2.1 All students who accept an offer to participate in a Research Experience must enter into a UQ Unpaid Work Experience arrangement.听听

2.2 Students are permitted to undertake a maximum of 30 days of unpaid work experience per calendar year.

2.3 Students applying for the Winter Research Program, must therefore have a balance of at least 20 days of Unpaid Work Experience available prior to commencing the Program.听听

2.4 Students applying for the Summer Research Program must be aware that their six-week participation will expend all 30 days of their allocated Unpaid Work Experience for the calendar year.听

2.5 The UQ Unpaid Work Experience form must be fully completed with details of the Research Experience, signed by both the student and research supervisor, and uploaded to the Offer Acceptance Form.

2.6 It will be the responsibility of the student to manage their Unpaid Work Experience commitments and remaining balance.

听

3.1 The maximum duration of time that a student can participate in a Research Experience is as follows:

听a) Six (6) weeks of participation in the Summer Research Program; or

听b) Four (4) weeks of participation in the Winter Research Program; or

c) Four (4) weeks during the Winter Vacation and the equivalent of 1 day a week during semester 2 for the Global Change Youth Research Program.

3.2 Official Research Experience dates will be set each year and advertised on the Student Enrichment and Success website.

4.1. Students are encouraged to actively participate in the Research Experience to enhance their own educational outcomes. Research Supervisors will help guide day-to-day research activities and provide support as required.

4.2 Both students and Research Supervisors should meet prior to or at the start of the Research Experience to discuss goals and expectations.听If this is not possible, the student should听at least make contact via email or phone with the Research Supervisor on the first day to seek direction.

4.3 Research Experiences must be completed at a UQ campus or UQ-controlled entity unless remote arrangements are otherwise agreed upon by the Research Supervisor and student.

4.4 Students are expected to be available between 20 to 36 hours per week for the duration of the Research Experience (4-8 hours a week for Global Change Youth Research Scholars during semester 2). It is encouraged that the student negotiates the hours and days of engagement with their Research Supervisor.听听

4.5 Details of the start and finish dates of the Research Experience and expected hours of engagement will be outlined in the Letter of Offer. Research Experiences must be completed between the听official Research Experience dates听for that round. These are advertised on the website under the 'Timelines' section.听

4.6 Where appropriate to the project, additional discipline/project specific obligations may also be required, such as training in research safety and ethics.

5.1 Students participating in these听Research Experiences will receive a grant as outlined in the Letter of Offer. The grant payment will be arranged and paid to the student by the Research Unit (or by Student Enrichment and Success for the Global Change Youth Research Program).

5.2 To retain the grant, the student must maintain ongoing enrolment in a program of study at 51吃瓜网 for the entirety of the Research Experience. Research Units may undertake their own eligibility checks to ensure students will remain enrolled at 51吃瓜网 for the purpose of awarding a grant.

5.3 Unless specified otherwise by the Research Unit, grants will be paid into the recipient鈥檚 nominated bank account, in line with the following schedules:

a) Summer Research grants will be paid as one lump sum in February;

b) Winter Research grants will be paid as one lump-sum payment in week two of the program;

c) Global Change Youth Research grants will be paid as two lump-sum payments, the first in August and the second in听 December once the report has been submitted to the supervisor.

5.4 If a grant recipient withdraws or is removed from the Research Experience within the first few weeks, their grant will cease and, if paid in advance, will need to be returned.

5.5. A student can hold only one grant position in a Research Experience per round.听

7.1听Extensions beyond the maximum duration of the Research Experience (see section 3) will not be granted.

8.1 Participating students may undertake other commitments within the hours specified in condition 3.2 as negotiated and agreed with the Research Supervisor.

9.1听 Students must seek approval for absences from their Research Supervisor and notify the Unit Coordinator of the Research Unit so the necessary arrangements can be made. Approval is at the discretion of the Research Unit.

10.1. A Research Experience听project and/or grant awarded by the University of Queensland is non-transferable.

11.1 The University reserves the right to terminate a student's participation in the Research Experience (including the grant payment) at any time under the following circumstances:

a) The student is in breach of the Conditions of Participation contained herein;

b) The student discontinues their program of study at 51吃瓜网 and is no longer an enrolled student,听听

c) The student commits ;听

d) The ill health of the student seriously interferes with the progress of the research project and they can't attend as planned.

11.2 If a student is terminated for any reason prior to the commencement of the Research Experience, the University will not be liable for any costs, and if terminated during the program, the University will at its sole discretion determine if any reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.

11.3 Grant payments cease from the date of termination of the project.

12.1. Any UQ student is covered by UQ insurance while undertaking UQ authorised activities. Please visit the website for more information or the .听

13.1 Students are subject to UQ鈥檚 Intellectual Property policy and may be required to enter into an agreement with their Research Unit. . Please check with your Unit Coordinator for further details.听

14.1 Students are strongly encouraged to complete an evaluative survey after the Research Experience concludes. This report will be sent to students by the Student Enrichment and Success Team. This is not a mandatory requirement.

14.2 Research units may also require students to prepare and deliver an oral presentation, complete a written report or create a poster presentation about their experience. Students should ask their Research Supervisor in the first week if this will be a requirement.

14.3 Global Change Youth Research Scholars are required to submit a report to their supervisor AND present at the following year's Youth Forum held in April.听

15.1 Students agree to receive communications from their Research Unit, Student Enrichment and Success, University of Queensland Library, and Student Support and Wellbeing Services relating to the Research Experience.

15.2 Students also agree to receive communications from UQ after the Research Experience concludes about other relevant programs, grants, and events.
