The Ìýenables students to enhance their Chinese language skills by combining intensive in-class lectures with cultural tours and activities.Ìý

Through a series of English-based lectures, cultural tours, and activities, students are expected to gain knowledge about different environmental, historical, and sociocultural facets of Taiwan. Exploring Taiwan classes allow students to understand how Taiwan’s past has shaped its modern state, and the subtle ways Taiwan embraces foreign culture with its local culture.

Credit EquivalentÌý

7 credits = 2 UQ units. Maximum of 2 UQ Units if 7 Credits are successfully completed (pending UQ faculty approval).

Eligibility and application

All applicants must meet the UQ short-term program criteria and the entry requirementsÌýfor the course.Ìý

This program impacts UQ semester 2 teaching dates. UQ students must meet the additionalÌýspecial conditions for programs that impact teaching dates.

It is strongly recommended that you submit your application to the Global Experiences team at least 4 weeks before applying to the host to allow sufficient time for faculty to complete the credit assessment. Please note however that it is your responsibility to meet the host application deadline. Ìý

Cost

The participation mode of this experience isÌýStudy Abroad.ÌýThe program fee is approximately $5,350 AUD, and includes tuition, orientation, cultural courses, and activities. An application fee of approximately $310 AUD will apply.

Application Deadlines

OS-HELP loan applications open on 5 January each year.

OS-HELP loan applications can’t be accepted:

  • any earlier than 6 monthsÌýbefore the official start date of your overseas study
  • any later thanÌý3 monthsÌýbefore the official end date of your overseas study.
