UQ students can choose toÌýtake a maximum of two courses within either Session 1 or Session 2,Ìýwith the first from the morning courses and the second from the afternoon courses to avoid a timetable clash.ÌýFor more information regarding program specifics, visit theÌý

Applicants are advised to submit 2-3 courses on their application for credit form for faculty assessmentÌýcredit in case of course cancellation.Ìý

Credit equivalentÌý

1 SMU CreditÌý= 2 UQ Units. Maximum of 4 UQ Units if 2 SMU Credits are successfully completed across the morning and afternoon sessions (pending UQ faculty approval).Ìý

Eligibility and application

All applicants must meet the UQ short-term experience eligibility criteria and the Ìý

Session 2 impacts on UQ semester 2 dates. UQ students must meet the additionalÌýspecial conditionsÌýfor programs that impact on teaching dates.

If you intend to undertake your experience for-credit, it is strongly recommended that you submit your application to the Global Experiences team at least 4 weeks before applying to the host to allow sufficient time for faculty to complete the credit assessment. Please note however that it is your responsibility to meet the host application deadline. Ìý

Costs

The participation mode of this experience isÌýStudy Abroad. Tuition only will be approximately $3,850 - $6,385 AUD depending on the number of courses undertaken. An administration and application fee of approximately $450 AUD will also apply.Ìý

As UQ is a SMU partner univeristy, you may be eligible for a 10% discount on tuition fees.

AccommodationÌý

Accommodation is at an additional cost.ÌýStudents are responsible for booking their own accommodation for their stay in Singapore, however SMU may have arrangements with off-campus accommodation providers, with limited rooms available. Global Experiences Grants

When you submit your application for anÌýexperience, you are automatically considered for funding that is relevant to your nominated experience. Please refer to the Short-Term Experiences FundingÌýpage for details.Ìý

OS-HELP Loan

You may also be eligible to submit an application for anÌýÌýif your program is for-credit and you are enrolled as a Commonwealth-supported student.

Application Deadlines

OS-HELP loan applications open on 5 January each year.

OS-HELP loan applications can’t be accepted:

  • any earlier than 6 monthsÌýbefore the official start date of your overseas study
  • any later thanÌý3 monthsÌýbefore the official end date of your overseas study.
