Waseda University Short-Term Japanese Program: Summer course
The Ìýoffers 3-week language courses targeted at beginner and intermediate levels.ÌýThe program welcomes students with a high motivation to learn, and an interest in the Japanese language and culture.
The Short-term Japanese Program is organized and run by the centre for Japanese Language Waseda University. The goal of this 3-week program is to cultivate students’ overall Japanese language ability. Through the classes provided at different levels, students can study the Japanese language according to their own abilities.

Credit EquivalentÌý
2 Waseda CreditsÌý= 2 UQÌýUnits. Maximum of 2 UQÌýUnits if 2 Waseda Credits are successfully completed (pending UQ faculty approval).

Eligibility and Application
All applicants must meet theÌýUQ short-term experience eligibility criteriaÌýand theÌý.
The program is aimed at studentsÌýwho can at least read and write Hiragana/Katakana. Waseda advises that studentsÌýself-study with Waseda's Ìýbefore starting the program.
Students are required to complete a Ìýprior to the application period. Students must enter the scores when processing their application to Waseda University.Ìý
If you are intending to undertake your experience for-credit, it is strongly recommended that you submit your application to the Global Experiences Team at least 4 weeks before applying to the host to allow sufficient time for Faculty to complete the credit assessment. Please note however that it is your responsibility to meet the host application deadline.Ìý
Cost
The tuition fee is approximately $1,100 AUD, and a screening fee of $240 AUD will also apply. More information regarding fees can be found on the .

When you submit your application for anÌýexperience, you are automatically considered for funding that is relevant to your nominated experience. Please refer to the Short-Term Experiences Funding page for details.Ìý

You may also be eligible to submit an application for anÌýÌýif your program is for-credit and you are enrolled as a Commonwealth-supported student.

Application Deadlines
OS-HELP loan applications open on 5 January each year.
OS-HELP loan applications can’t be accepted:
- any earlier than 6 monthsÌýbefore the official start date of your overseas study
- any later thanÌý3 monthsÌýbefore the official end date of your overseas study.
