University of Kassel International Summer University: HESSEN
The Ìýis a unique summer short course dedicated to international students. Every year, about 100 participants take part in seminars in specially created Summer Schools in Germany.
Based on your personal interest, you canÌýchoose one of the five different summer schools, and you will be able to gain useful insights in the chosen field of study and improve your intercultural communication skills in a highly international learning environment. The university program is combined with several leisure time activities, such asÌýworkshops, excursions and a German language course, which is offered at different levels.

Credit EquivalentÌý
4-6 ECTS = 2 UQÌýUnits. Maximum of 4 UQÌýUnits if 10 ECTS is successfully completed (pending UQ faculty approval).

Eligibility and Application
All applicants must meet the standard UQÌýStudent Eligibility CriteriaÌýand any additional eligibility criteria set by ISU Kassel. Students will be selected via an internal Global Experiences team selection committee, as well as an internal Hessen evaluation.Ìý
Applicants must complete the UQ online application and provide their completed Hessen ApplicationÌýwith the following attachments:
- Copy of Passport picture page
- Resume or CV
- Official Academic Transcript
Successful applicants will be nominated to the Hessen State Government by UQ after theÌýselection committee meeting following the application deadline. Following your nomination, you may be required to submit additional application information directly to the host university.Ìý
Cost
The participation mode of this experience isÌýExchange. Therefore, tuition is paid to UQ and can be deferred to HECS if eligible.Ìý
Additional day-to-day living expenses (such as meals) are not included, please see theÌýÌýfor more information.
AccommodationÌý
Accommodation isÌýarranged as part of the program and therefore, there is no additional cost.ÌýMore information regarding accommodation can be found on the Ìý
Funding
Internships and Global Experiences Grants
When you submit your application for anÌýexperience, you are automatically considered for funding that is relevant to your nominated experience. Please refer to the Short-Term Experiences Funding  page for details.Ìý
OS-HELP Loan
You may also be eligible to submit an application for anÌýÌýif your program is for-credit and you are enrolled as a Commonwealth-supported student.

Application Deadlines
OS-HELP loan applications open on 5 January each year.
OS-HELP loan applications can’t be accepted:
- any earlier than 6 monthsÌýbefore the official start date of your overseas study
- any later thanÌý3 monthsÌýbefore the official end date of your overseas study.
