Work your way through theIGET Pre-departure Essentials Checklistto help you prepare.
Important Travel Advice
Students planning international travel should regularly monitor DFATand theɱٱ.
UQ strongly recommends that students do not travel to, or transit through, locations rated “Do not travel” or “Reconsider your need to travel”,due to security risks, disruptionand insurance limitations.
Where a destinationremainsapproved, but a student chooses to transit via such locations against advice, UQ support and insurance apply only to the approved experience and destination, not to the student’s travel routing.
Studentsare responsible forreviewing flight routes and keeping their travel details up to date.
6. Flights and accommodation
We do not recommend that you purchase plane tickets until you receive an official acceptance letter from your host university and the appropriate visa for your exchange.
On each host university page, you can find a link to on- and off-campus accommodation options under the ''Accommodation and costs' tab.
Where to find accommodation options
Once accepted into the global experience, the host university should provide you with information on accommodation choices and application instructions. It is your responsibility to secure accommodation for the duration of your experience. We recommend that youapply foraccommodation as soon as possible in order to secure a place.
Housing Shortage
We have been informed by a number of host universities that some countries are experiencing housing shortages, which may affect accommodation availability for exchange students. You are strongly encouraged to research your accommodation options early.
