Experience Preparation

Once you have been accepted to participate in a short-term experience, its time to prepare for your experience to start!

For students participating in-person please read every step carefully.

For students participating virtually some of the steps below will not apply.

Important Travel Advice

Students planning international travel should regularly monitor DFATand the泭滄梗莉莽勳喧梗.

UQ strongly recommends that students do not travel to, or transit through, locations rated Do not travel or Reconsider your need to travel,due to security risks,disruptionand insurance limitations.

Where a destinationremainsapproved, but a student chooses to transit via such locations against advice, UQ support and insurance apply only to the approved experience and destination, not to the students travel routing.

Studentsare responsible forreviewing flight routes and keeping their travel details up to date.

2. Health & Safety

Studentsmust exercise due diligence in planning and undertaking approved UQ travel, including ensuring that they are aware and abide by any COVID-related requirements during transit to or from their host country and abide by all local government guidelines or restrictions while overseas.

Health and Wellbeing

If you have a medical or other condition that you may require assistance for while on your experience, please review the Health, Wellbeing, Disability and Inclusion Checklist to assist you in your preparations.

Visiting a doctor before you leave for your experienceis strongly encouraged. The doctor will be able to provide information about required vaccinations and health advice for your destination.

If you are on any medication, be sure to take an adequate supply, as an equivalent medication may not be available at your destination. You will require a letter describing the contents of your medication from a doctor in order to carry this through customs. Youshould also confirm that the medication is permitted in your host country.

If you have a pre-existing or new medical condition, mental health condition or disability that may require assistance or special conditions to be in place while on your experience, we recommend that you speak with your treating practitioner regarding any considerations that may be important prior to or during your experience. This includes medication requirements and access, options for remote support and documentation requirements for accommodations with your host. Being proactive to arrange accessibility requirements is important to ensure these are in place prior to your arrival.

You are also encouraged to familiarise yourself with your travel insurance policy, and where and how to access health support overseas.
